"Longtemps en gestation, AllSilver est une collection de sons provocateurs de l’expérimentateur de la région de Washington, Jeff Surak. Surak apprécie et exploite ce que beaucoup d’entre nous ignorent dans notre environnement sonore. Le titre de la première piste de l’album, Love and Production, reflète bien l’esthétique de Surak : l’amour des sons les plus durs que la plupart des gens n’aiment pas, et la production de sons bruts à partir de matériaux plus bruts comme des enregistrements de dictaphone, de vieux synthétiseurs, des radios lo-fi, des objets mécaniques et une cithare désaccordée. AllSilver est un album qui puise dans les technologies électroniques numériques et analogiques pour produire un son global conforme à la marque particulière de l’art lofi de Surak.

Parfois, ce son englobe des paysages sonores étendus, comme dans « Love and Production » et le drone luxuriant et ondulant de « Nicéphore Niépce » ; il peut aussi prendre la forme des textures granuleuses sur « And the Sun Will Eat Itself », ou des mystérieux sons percussifs qui ponctuent « Keep Dancing After the Music Stops ». « The Fence » est un morceau abrasif de scrunge post-industriel – les sons d’une machine in extremis ; « Zawawa » canalisera, lui, le fantôme d’une radio à ondes courtes cassée, réglée entre deux stations. La pièce maîtresse de l’album sera le dernier morceau : l’épique « Scattered Lie the Saints », long de vingt minutes, un morceau de drone complexe qui mélange les sons de l’école berlinoise avec un grésillement et un sifflement rappelant une radio à transistors minuscule, et qui se perd dans le néant d’un écho qui s’estompe." ~
